Michael Bublé is a Canadian singer and music producer. He was born September 9th, 1975 in Burnaby, British Columbia,Canada. He is the son of a fisherman, and even worked on fishing boats in his teenage years during summer breaks. He had a passion for two things: singing and hockey. While, admittedly, he would have preferred the latter, he realized early that he lacked the talent to become a professional hockey player. However, he did get his first paid gigs at the earliest versions of a Michael Bublé concert as a singer at age 16 in nightclubs in Canada. He used the stage name “Mickey Bubbles”.
He recorded 3 independent albums from age 21 to age 27 before being discovered by Canadian Grammy Award winning music producer David Foster. Although he did have some doubts about the potential success of Bublé’s old-fashioned style, he eventually agreed to release the album under his label if Bublé was able to raise the $500,000 needed for the production. The young singer ultimately managed to do so, so his self-titled debut album “Michael Bublé” hit the shelves of record stores in February 2003. It consisted of covers of old pop classics such as “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen, or "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” by the Bee Gees.
His first label-backed album was a moderate success, peaking at the #8 spot on the Canadian charts, and even topping the charts in Australia and New Zealand. This allowed him to complete further album projects, such as "It’s Time" (2005), "Crazy Love" (2009), "To Be Loved" (2013), "Love" (2018), and the latest new Michael Bublé album, "Higher" (2022). On these records, he no longer sang only covers, but produced originals as well, such as "Forever Now", or "It's a Beautiful Day".
The biggest hits in the Michael Bublé setlist to date are "Home" (2005, an original composition), "Feeling Good" (a 2005 cover), and "Haven’t Met You Yet" (2009, original). A Michael Bublé concert was also performed in the opening ceremony for the 2010 Winter Olympics, which was held in his home country, in Vancouver, Canada.
