Riley Green is an American country singer and songwriter. He was born on October 18, 1988 in Jacksonville, Alabama. Green built up an early affection for music, as his grandfather, Buford Green, used to run the Golden Saw Music Hall in his hometown of Jacksonville, AL. The music played there was his biggest influence. Green learnt to play the guitar at age 10 and started writing country songs at age 14, typically about boys chasing after girls. However, he also wrote one about a hurricane rampaging through Alabama in 2011. Aside from music, Green has also been always into fishing and hunting.
He attended Jacksonville State University where he played quarterback for the college football team. Then, he appeared on the 5th season of the CMT (Country Music Television) reality show “Redneck Island”. He released his self-made, self-titled EP, “Riley Green”, in 2013. Green put out 3 more Extended Plays in the next few years before signing his first record deal with Big Machine Records in 2018. Also, he started regularly doing Riley Green concert shows in big venues across the US in 2017.
His debut album, titled “Different 'Round Here”, came out in September 2019. It became a moderate hit, reaching the #11 spot Billboard’s Country Music Album charts, while breaking into the famous overall Billboard 200 chart too, at the #95 spot. It is the only record in his discography to date, with no word about a new Riley Green album coming out in the near future.
The biggest hits in the Riley Green setlist so far are “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” (2019), “There Was ThisGirl” (also 2019), “I Wasn’t For Trucks” (2020), and “When She Comes Home Tonight” (2022). In addition, Green won the Academy of Country Music’s award in the Best New Male Artist category in 2019. Check where the next Riley Green concert is playing near you on our page above.
